First Stoy Lab Paper is Published!

Symbiont evolutionary history underpins quality to an insect host

The Stoy Lab has published its first paper in Journal of Insect Science. This paper was led by undergraduate researchers, Audrey Miller and Ava Virtuoso. It explores whether bacterial symbionts vary in their quality to an insect host Anasa tristis. We demonstrate that bacteria isolated from soil offer fewer benefits to A. tristis than even symbiont strains isolated from distantly related host species.
